Abstract
The conclusion has three aims. First, it briefly summarizes the general results of the book. As a part of this, it emphasizes the way in which Merleau-Ponty’s view is genuinely an idealism. Second, it considers how the transcendental idealist interpretation of Merleau-Ponty’s early thought might be affected by the views expressed in his later works. Those later works appear to pose a stronger and more overt challenge to transcendental idealism. The conclusion briefly considers this possibility and gives some reasons for thinking that this should not change the results of the current book. Finally, the conclusion considers some possible avenues for further research based on the results of this book.
