Abstract

AbstractTo conclude, this study considers how commonplacing continues to evolve in the digital age. Special attention goes to the topoi that inform digital information management. The coda applies this study’s larger argument—that technological and social changes altered commonplace book form—to online search engines and forms of digital surveillance. The twenty-first-century topic has come a long way from Aristotle’s topoi and Cicero’s loci, yet the core properties of the commonplace method—gathering and storing multiform information—remain with us today.
