Abstract
Abstract
Menzel and Pickel’s contributions to this volume share a common core, which consists of the conjunction of Absolute Generality (i.e. the claim that here is sense to be made of an “absolutely general” quantifier) and First-Orderism (i.e. the claim that higher-order quantifiers should be thought of as restricted first-order quantifiers). In this paper, I point to some limitations of the resulting philosophical picture and suggest an alternative, which I call Anti-Absolutism.
