The final interlude talks about the one thing we aren’t supposed to talk about—Bruno. Following the Disney + release of Encanto in December 2021, the film’s soundtrack became TikTok’s latest sonic playground. The soundtrack’s signature song, “We Don’t Talk About Bruno,” was able to ride TikTok popularity to the coveted spot on the Billboard Hot 100. The popularity of “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” on TikTok crystalizes many of the themes explored throughout TikTok Broadways. That is, “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” became a critical site for musical fans to engage in a variety of digital practices that cemented their fannish identities, facilitated Encanto’s commercial success, and expanded how musicals can be a source of creativity.
