This chapter provides a survey of the primary literature of horology in its fullness from the fifteenth to the twentieth centuries. It covers literature for both sundials and mechanical horology. Particular attention is paid to professional journals, to trade literature, and to repairers manuals, as well as advertisements and consumer catalogues.
