Abstract
Abstract
Our understanding of the central pathways involved in the control of autonomic functions has been advanced by many technical developments in the neurosciences. In particular, neuroanatomy has under gone a renaissance following the development of highly sensitive techniques for tracing of neural pathways and immunohistochemical methods for the biochemical characterization of neurons. As a result of these advances, a large body of data has been collected regarding the neuroanatomical organization of central autonomic pathways.
