Abstract
In this chapter the author argues that the way we structure our work with one another shapes our internal and external effectiveness. We must learn how to manage the inherent tensions of balancing the rhythm of change that drives campaigns with the rhythm of continuity that sustains organization; of inclusion and exclusion, unity and diversity, and parts and wholes—all to integrate the practice of democratic self-governance with organized power to renew our democracy.
