Abstract

Abstract This chapter concludes the book by assessing how the commitment to take up political responsibility can be sustained. This moves the analysis from the level of individuals to the level of institutions and transnational practices of solidarity. This chapter puts forward the argument that a commitment to take up political responsibility is generally sustained by practices of solidarity that already exist at the transnational level. Yet the commitment can also emerge in the absence of these practices, resulting from the experience of injustice. The chapter closes with some considerations about how transnational practices and institutions should be structured to globalize resistance against sweatshop labour and strengthen transnational solidarity.
