Abstract

Abstract This chapter reviews the primary argument and main findings from the book. The chapter discusses the implications of brawling for democratic representation and legislative processes, and investigate possibilities for reforms. The discussion of reforms focuses on a case study of brawling in South Korea. Finally, the chapter considers brawls’ connections to, and implications for, political violence more generally, particularly as it relates to public opinion. This discussion leads to concluding thoughts about the relationship between violence, even incivility, in democratic deliberations where questions of political identity and political polarization are particularly salient.
