Abstract

Abstract Chapter 6 concludes that within the dominant discourses’ pictures of reason, Pakistan and its nuclear weapons are excluded from these logics. What is more is that these theories are unable to account for why Pakistan falls outside of the pictures of reason. The excess of meaning that falls outside of these theories is purely related to strategic or technical visions. These excesses are the cultural grids of intelligibility through which Pakistan is rendered visible. Postcolonial approaches are needed to identify Orientalism and put to use a combination of critical and interpretive methods to understand this puzzle. Within this contribution, the researcher assumes a reflexive position.
