Abstract

Abstract In this short concluding chapter, the central thesis of the book is summarised, arguing that its theoretical, historical, and political reappraisal of the ‘drug question’ constitutes a paradigm shift in how we understand the drug problem and in how we see and frame the challenge of drug law reform. It describes some implications of this paradigm shift for future research and policy, concluding that in rethinking drug control we will need to understand reform as a decolonising project in which China and Asia must be recentred. It ends by restating the centrality of regulatory theory to this intellectual and reform project.
