Abstract

Abstract Three insecticide treatments were evaluated for WSS control on a commercial farm near Dutton, MT. Winter wheat was treated on 19 Jun in 40 X 7 ft plots oriented along the edge of the wheat strip, adjacent to fallow where WSS activity is greater. Treatments were arranged in a RCB design with 4 replications. Insecticide applications were made using a backpack, CO2-pressured sprayer equipped with TeeJet XR8002VS nozzles, calibrated to deliver 8.2 gpa at 30 psi. WSS adults were sampled by taking 10 consecutive sweeps using a standard (15-inch diam) sweep net and larvae were sampled by splitting 20 stems per plot. Data were analyzed using ANOVA and separating means using Tukey.
