Abstract
Abstract
This chapter discusses six notable books published in 2021 (with the exception of Shane Denson’s work, published in late 2020), chosen so as to illustrate both the depth and the breadth of the year’s work in film theory and criticism. It is divided into seven sections: 1. Shane Denson, Discorrelated Images; 2. Adriana Gordjuela, Flashbacks in Film; 3. Paul Coates, Comparative Cinema; 4. Anna Backman Rogers, Still Life; 5. Daniel Morgan, The Lure of the Image; 6. Hoi Lun Law, Ambiguity and Film Criticism; 7. Conclusion.
