Abstract
Abstract
The development of a nation depends on its social, economic, and political factors, security being one of the essential elements that contributes to this development. Using space technology for the advancement of security, mainly human security, is on the top of the national agenda for most space-emerging countries, and states focus on adopting programs toward this end. This chapter makes an argument for a theoretical understanding of why states will pursue such programs and how they are using international cooperation as a means to enhance space technologies for furthering the human security agenda. It makes a comparative analysis on the space programs of four space-emerging countries, namely the UAE, Indonesia, Mexico, and South Africa to understand which elements of human security are priorities for these states and why.
