Abstract
The article discusses the theory associated with the determination of total heat and mass transfer coefficients in a membrane module. The equations for determining Nusselt and Sherwood numbers on the shell side of the module are presented. The design of the membrane module and the test bench are also discussed. The convective coefficients of heat and mass transfer on the shell side have been determined on the basis of the measurements. Calculation results obtained from correlation equations were then compared with the results of experimental investigations of convective heat and mass transfer coefficients in the air-water system. The equation is indicated appropriate for use in the case analysed.
