Abstract
The radical modernization of the economic management system, ushering in a post-industrial era driven by the accumulation and multiplication of knowledge to foster innovative capital, stands as a pivotal facet within the strategic framework for innovative development in the Republic of Uzbekistan. In the contemporary landscape, the cornerstone for steering the economy toward an innovative trajectory lies in the establishment of a robust national innovation system. Despite considerable interest and a plethora of studies delving into the theoretical and practical dimensions of the national innovation system and its individual components, a comprehensive approach elucidating the essence, structure, and guiding principles for its formation and development, particularly concerning its impact on economic growth sustainability and national competitiveness, remains conspicuously absent in domestic economic discourse. This article is dedicated to elucidating the formation and progression of the national innovation system in the Republic of Uzbekistan. It meticulously explores and delineates the root causes and consequential effects, challenges, and prospective solutions that shape the trajectory of the national innovation system. Furthermore, the article endeavors to advance a model for the national innovation system, providing a conceptual framework that encapsulates its intricacies and interconnections. In doing so, it aspires to contribute to the nascent body of knowledge surrounding the holistic understanding of the national innovation system, and its pivotal role in fostering sustained economic growth and elevating the competitive standing of the nation.
