Abstract
To briefly describe the current status of research on colloidal gold and other immunoassay techniques in the detection of common viruses. To understand the principles of colloidal gold technology and other common immunoassay techniques, and the existing clinical applications of enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), polymerase chain reaction (PCR) technology and chemiluminescence immunoassay. We screened and searched for four representative common viruses that have certain social impacts on human beings: novel coronavirus (abbreviated as new coronavirus, COVID-19), rabies virus, human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), and porcine circovirus, and compared them to draw the advantages of colloidal gold and other immunological methods in virus detection. Results In the detection of the four common viruses, colloidal gold technology, compared with other detection methods, uniformly demonstrated the advantages of easy operation, higher specificity, faster detection speed, and the ability to achieve high-volume on-site testing. Colloidal gold technology as a new in vitro detection technology, compared with other detection technologies, is innovative, fast, more accurate results, while the operation is simple, users do not need much training to use correctly. It can be used in clinical testing to achieve rapid, high-volume screening, and can also be used as a simple device to achieve self-testing, assisting medical personnel in clinical diagnosis, which has good social benefits.
