Abstract
The concept of sustainable development was developed and adopted by the UN in 2015. It provides for the implementation of 17 goals, called the “Millennium Goals” [1]. The article focuses on the investment and strategic aspects of the implementation of the sustainable development goals (SDGs) in the social sphere, adapted to Russia’s interests and conditions. The purpose of the study is to identify the degree of compliance of the regional social development priorities with the sustainable development goals in order to determine areas for increasing the effectiveness of its strategizing, taking into account the investment opportunities of the region. The object of the study is the investment and strategic priorities of the regional social development. The subject of the study is the areas, tools and methods of setting priorities for the social development of the region in the context of strategizing its sustainable development. The territorial boundaries of the study are the Sverdlovsk oblast, a classic old industrial region, and all components of sustainable development and ESG are significant for its development. The study uses methods of analysis and synthesis, dynamics research, comparison, etc. The paper assesses the dynamics of indicators that characterize the implementation of sustainable development goals in a regional perspective, their resource and investment support, as well as integration into the regional strategy. The need to maintain the social priorities of the regional development, as well as the inclusion of “social” investments parameters in the development strategies, is substantiated.
