Abstract

The main obstacle faced in eel cultivation is the high mortality from glass eel to elver, which reaches 70-80%. Rearing eel seeds in the early stages is the most difficult period with a survival rate of 30-50%. To optimize the sustainable use of eel fish and increase economic value for the general public and eel fishermen, as well as making it one of the leading commodities in Sukabumi Regency, it is necessary to study holding locations for glass Eel and elver habitat. This research was conducted using the Geographic Information System Survey and Analysis method. Based on the feasibility analysis from the aspect of identifying the character of the river estuary as a habitat for glass eel and elver reveal all villages in Sukabumi district which are directly adjacent to the sea, plus the villages of Tonjong, Citarik and Cibuntu are geographically suitable for glass eel storage locations. However, only 3 villages are geographically suitable and have suitable water resources available, namely Tonjong, Citarik and Cikadu villages.
