Abstract

In general, there are two selling behaviours for rice harvests that develop in irrigated rice agroecosystems, namely selling using “tebasan” system and without “tebasan” system. In maximising the profits obtained, farmers will try to minimise input, one of which is the use of labour which tends to vary between farmers. This study aims to analyse “tebasan” phenomenon and factors that influence “tebasan” phenomenon using National Farmer Panel data for 2021–2022 in irrigated rice agroecosystems. The analytical methods used are binary logistic regression and multiple linear regression. The results of the analysis showed that farmers who tend to sell crops by “tebasan” have characteristics of old age of the household head, high education of the head of the household, many household members who work, and land that is not large. The difference in profit between the two sales systems is not significant, but other variables need to be considered because they can maximise the profit earned by farmers. The government needs to encourage the downstream of agriculture and the empowerment of BUMDes and village cooperatives as a result of the “tebasan” phenomenon, which will increasingly develop in rice farming.
