Abstract
Urban water purification by sedimentation treatment is one of the important steps widely used in a large cities’ infrastructure. The waste of technology mentioned is a high-humidity sludge with a different mineral and biological composition and various particle size. Due to the presence of significant amounts of active fractions, these sediments can be secondary used as an additional water treatment agent. To explore this statement in a more detail, the study presented deals with the natural-derived waste obtained through Rostov-on-Don urban water sedimentation treatment with aluminum sulfate Al2(SO4)3 and polycationite VPK-402. The following parameters were analyzed: humidity, density, mass and volume fractions of solid phases coupled with its chemical and physical characteristics. It is shown that the secondary utilization of the sediment produced will lead to treatment agents’ economy up to 30%.
