Abstract

At present, the development of weapons and military equipment, including super-precision weapons and other forms and methods of combat (psychological, informational, and asymmetric), has made modern wars fast, dynamic, and sudden. All of this, in turn, led to changes in management methods, a significant reduction in the time required to make decisions and perform combat tasks, and a general rethinking of the military's activities. In modern wars, the “center of gravity” has become the mental abilities, moral-psychological state, and emotional-volitional qualities of the personnel of the Armed Forces (AF), the long-term impact of which provides strategic superiority over the enemy with few resources. Such conditions require military personnel to demonstrate competence and rapid response capabilities, which is possible if leadership traits and principles are taught and implemented. The purpose of the work is to analyze the peculiarities of leadership with regard to the characteristics of modern warfare as well as identifying requirements focused on the Armed Forces. The methods of theoretical analysis, comparison, generalization, and comparison of scientific literature form the methodological basis of the work. Research on the characteristics of leadership plays an important role in countering the challenges of modern warfare, and its implementation will enable the AF to maintain its competitive advantage.
