Abstract
nvent for life leads to the emerging open kitchen. An open kitchen is equipped with modern appliances. However, it has become fashion statement rather than just serve performance. In this research, we develop value-added kitchen appliances, such as digital gas stove, variable frequency range hood and smart dishwasher to promote serve performance of these appliances. After that we provide an integration method of these appliances based on ZigBee wireless link technology to increase the convenience, safety, and comfort of cooking environments. By the aid of a sophisticated human-machine interface designed with touch screen controller and each value-added appliance equipped with a ZigBee transceiver and electronics, these appliances can be linked and controlled centrally to provide more and more serve performance. With the proposed architecture, it will be quite handy for the ON-OFF function and flame size adjustment of digital gas stove are controlled by touching, and/or the speed control of range hood links with the flame size adjustments of gas stove automatically, thus increasing fuel efficiency, reducing power consumption and keeping clean environment during cooking. Besides the wireless link and control of appliances, this controller also can store and display the details of the recipes, preset modes of cooking conditions, etc., for use at other times. Experimental results show our proposed structure enriches the kitchen activities and brings a handy, safe and eco kitchen.
