Abstract
This paper presents a study of the tandem piston synthetic jet and its effect to the internal flow fields of the S-induct excited by the actuator using numerical simulation. The three-dimensional unsteady Reynolds averaged N-S equations and second order upwind scheme are employed. Structure grids are used for the computational model. Firstly, we numerically simulate the synthetic jet characterized by blowing and suction simultaneously and analyze its synthetic jet performance. Secondly, we apply this synthetic jets actuator to the S-induct, finding that the synthetic jets actuator makes a great effect to the S-induct. Results show that the secondary flow becomes weak, besides, S-induct total pressure recovery coefficient of the exit has improved at some extent.
