Planar Frieze and Crystallographic Patterns with a Polar Spin from Dynamics

Abstract

Building upon our previous work for automatically generating colorful patterns with frieze and Crystallographic symmetries, we explore converting these symmetric patterns into fascinating images having cyclic and dihedral symmetry via a polar spin technique from dynamical systems. The methods can be used to automatically produce a great variety of artistic patterns.
