Modal Analysis and Optimization of Tricycle Vehicles Frame Structure

Abstract

Frame is the most important carrying structure for tricycle vehicles. A reasonable frame design can increase its service life and reliability. Firstly, the frame structural modal frequency should avoid close proximity of excitation values. The structural modal characteristics were analyzed and validated; secondly, the method of size optimization was applied to improve the structure modal characteristics while taking into account the sensitivities analysis, at last, the thickness of steel plate was optimized to achieve lightweight and increase unreasonable natural frequency. According to the results of recomputation, the structure characteristics had been ameliorated obviously, and structures weight was reduced.
