Study of the Production of Ceramsite Using Municipal Sewage Sludge

Abstract

The sludge ceramsite was obtained by the way of clay and Kaolin as the additive, which could be used fillers, especially the filter media for biological aerated filters (BAFs) in the paper. The experiment showed that the ratios of clay and Kaolin, sintering temperature and sintering time are important factors. The experimental results showed that the pellets of the ceramsite was good when the pellets were heated to 1150 °C for 25 min.
