Finite Element Analysis of Composite Overwrapped Pressure Vessel Based on the Laminated Plate Theory

Abstract

The composite overwrapped pressure vessel shell was analyzed by using the laminated plate theory. The conventional 2D laminated plate was transformed into a 3D curved plate by setting a reasonable material direction and thickness, and the finite model of the pressure vessel was built. The sress-strain field of the pressure vessel was obtained. Analysis results show that cylindrical section and head section has high stress concentration, and it is the weakest part.
