Abstract

The allelopathic effect of fresh tissue and water-soluble extract of sea weed Sargassum fusiforme on the growth of algae Karenia mikimotoi was studied using co-culture method.The results showed that fresh tissue, and water-soluble extract of the sea weed had significant inhibition on the growth of the algae, the fresh tissue and water-soluble extract had lethal effect on the algae at a higher concentration and the test of time long enough.The experimental phenomena described that Sargassum fusiforme had produced allelochemicals inhibition the growth of algae Michaelis mikimotoi.
