Abstract
In this paper we review fundamental results that form the background for the topics discussed in this dissertation. This paper presents criteria for the necessity and sufficiency of stabilization, and presents the fundamental limitations of feedback control systems caused by causality and finite- capacity communication links. Limitations on stabilization in the determin-istic sense and in several stochastic frameworks have been presented. The results dealt with the case of a discrete channel as well as a packet-based network.
