Abstract
An acoustic emission (AE) technique has been employed for nondestructive monitoring
of the performance of a laboratory scale cementitious wasteform encapsulating Al. Recorded AE
activity revealed the possibility for classification and differentiation of detected AE signals with a
potential relationship between the corrosion rate of encapsulated Al and the accumulated structural
damage within the cement matrix.
