Relationship between Number of Teeth and Transmission Torque on Cylindrical Magnetic Gear

Abstract

A magnetic gear transmits torque without contact. The torque just before the gear idling defines the maximum transmission torque of the magnetic gear. Today, many methods are studied well to increase the maximum transmission torque. But no attention is paid to the number of magnetic gear teeth. In this paper, we focus on the relationship between the number of teeth and the maximum transmission torque. In experiments, three types of the developed gears, which have the different number of teeth, are checked for the maximum transmission torque. As experimental results, we reveal influence of the teeth number to the transmission torque.
