Abstract
The popular finite element packages can quite well provide the structural behaviors for a given model, but the optimal design technology based on FEM is not so mature for large structures for lacking perfect sensitivity analysis. The optional design of a composite wing is accomplished by implanting semi-analytical sensitivity analysis technology into ANSYS. The structure total mass is reduced about 24%. The optimum solution not only satisfies all the restrictions, but also exhibits more uniform strain distribution. The workload of coding is reduced distinctly by this method, and the research is focused on the more important aspect of sensitivity analysis, which is useful in the engineering problems.
