Abstract
A new Cerithiopsis species is described based on shells found in sediments collected in two localities of the Black Sea (Constanţa and Eforie Nord, Romania) at a depth less than 2 m. It is similar to Cerithiopsis minima (Brusina, 1865), from which it may be distinguished for the stouter outline, the conical instead of cylindrical protoconch that is shorter than in C. minima and bears a subsutural spiral groove on last two whorls, the wider spiral nodules separated by narrower interspaces, the brown colour with darker bands in the adapical area and lower part of the last whorl, while in C. minima the colour is generally more uniform. The new species is possibly present also in the Aegean Sea.
