Abstract
This article addresses the concept and characteristics of home stay programs as a new rural tourism product. Home stay is a combination of rural tourism, agro-farm tourism, cultural tourism, and recreation activity operated under minimal funding by small entrepreneurs from villages,
by assistance of the government in Malaysia. This study presents an overview on the development, procedures, operation, evaluation, and limitations of the home stay program as a rural tourism entrepreneurship business. Implications of the results of this study and suggestions are also discussed.
