Abstract
✓The patterns of cerebral cortical veins of the frontal, temporal, and occipital poles were studied and recorded in a series of 286 specimens of fresh cadaver brains. Attention is called to potential zones of infarction and regional edema that may follow indiscriminate surgical occlusion of these veins. Resultant increase in total cerebral volume may defeat the objective of the partial lobectomy, namely, an effective internal decompression. A basic technique for partial cerebral lobectomy is suggested.
