Abstract
We surveyed past and present members of the Teaching of Psychology editorial board to create a list of essential readings for teachers of psychology. We asked respondents to list up to 10 journal articles and books on college and university teaching in general and specifically on the teaching of psychology that they believe are essential readings. In general, respondents suggested books that deal with various issues related to the quality of college and university instruction, that contain a variety of classroom activities, and that include information on the history of the teaching of psychology. We hope that this list will provide a starting point for those wishing to learn more about exceptional college and university teaching.
