Computational prediction shows spike protein translation fragments are aggregation-prone (Preprint)

Abstract

The formation of amyloids is of significant concern in several disease processes. Yet, there has not been an effective treatment developed for reversing the process of amyloidogenesis. Recently, it is proposed that the spike protein of SARS-CoV-2, as well as the SARS-CoV-2 vaccines has the possibility to produce amyloids. We evaluate this likelihood, based of observed protein fragments in cells exposed to the Pfizer/BioNTech BNT162b2 mRNA vaccine in a recent preprint study.
