BACKGROUND
"Workplace PUA" has become a hot topic of discussion on Weibo, and more and more people are beginning to pay attention to "workplace PUA" and the negative impact it brings. At the same time, 2022 is the year of the outbreak of the epidemic. The working mode of online office has also been retained during the epidemic period, workers may be forced to "work overtime online" even after working hours, which may lead to more workplace PUA.
OBJECTIVE
The purpose of this study is to conduct a dynamic study on the behaviour of workplace PUA, to understand the dynamic process of influencing workplace PUA, and to analyse the various potential problems and causes of workplace PUA. It is hoped that it will provide psychological advice to working professionals who are experiencing workplace PUA and help them better plan their future career path.
METHODS
A web crawler was used to crawl the discussion topics about "workplace PUA" on microblogs, and a dynamic topic model was used to study them. 5109 original microblogs were collected during the search period from 2022.11.11 to 2023.4.10.
RESULTS
This culminated in three topics on PUA in the workplace:Rejecting workplace PUA,Negative impact of PUA from COVID-19 defence and control staff,Negative emotions brought about by workplace PUA.
CONCLUSIONS
Chinese netizens before and after the epidemic held strong antagonistic attitudes towards workplace PUA, and workplace PUA itself had extremely negative effects on individuals' physical and mental development, while at the same time it was characteristic of the times during the epidemic. This study helps us to better understand the social phenomenon of workplace PUA, provide professional intervention suggestions for employees who are subjected to workplace PUA, and better assist modern people in making career decisions. In addition, this study creatively applies DTM to the study of social phenomena in the workplace, providing a new reference method for research in this field.
