BACKGROUND
As acceptance and commitment therapy become mainstream and important papers appear, it’s essential to map the global collaborative network.
OBJECTIVE
This work aims to map a comprehensive insight into the development track, key themes, and future landscape of acceptance and commitment therapy research.
METHODS
Excel 2019, VOSviewer and CiteSpace software were used to conduct a bibliometric analysis of publications from the Web of Science before August 13, 2021.
RESULTS
799 articles in 314 journals contributed by 2862 authors from 958 institutions in 52 countries are identified. The number of publications has increased significantly since 2015. The United States/Utah State University is the most productive country /institution; Karolinska Institute, Utah State University, and King's College London are the most significant nodes. Twohig MP, Hayes SC, and Levin ME are the most influential authors. Keyword co-occurrence analysis found the curative mechanism, using network technology or mobile technology as adjuvant therapy, reducing psychological diseases of cancer patients are potential terms.
CONCLUSIONS
Acceptance and commitment therapy can be used in psychotherapy for different patients, especially in treating depression and anxiety. Using mobile network technology to implement it can enhance the curative effect. Global cooperation needs to strengthen, especially from developing countries. We recommend researchers and nursing managers use acceptance and commitment therapy to study other different diseases or psychological patients.
