Abstract

BACKGROUND

It is well recognized that labiaplasty is the most common procedure of female cosmetic genital surgeries. The literature examining the postoperative satisfaction is not yet robust and there lack of long-term follow up. It might be necessary to conduct statistics of these techniques so that the outcomes can be better discussed preoperatively. Herein, we develop a stand-alone system serve as a preoperative assessment resource based on a follow-up of 414 patients with reduction labiaplasty.

OBJECTIVE

The aim of the study was to introduce a system with which to assess the results of labiaplasty procedure preoperatively, and offer help and advice to the women and surgeons.

METHODS

A retrospective note follow-up of labiaplasty over 10 years from 2008 was performed, identifying all patients undergoing surgery for their labia minora hypertrophy. 414 respondents were identified with a median follow-up of 44.68 (SD=9.05) months. Mean age was 32.10 (SD=7.82) years. Patients who underwent resection to remove excess lateral labia minora were included. Clinical characteristics such as age, motivation, preoperative psychological distress, surgical technique and satisfaction were reviewed and recorded. The survey was conducted in telephone and the questionnaire was anonymous. And 90 types of outcomes had been identified in the database.

RESULTS

Satisfaction varied from different clinical characteristics. In the database of the outcome, we multiplied the data of satisfaction in different items to obtain the overall satisfaction rate. And set them as different level, which indicated higher or lower satisfaction. WEB Front-end Development Technology was applied to achieve the evaluation system to select corresponding conditions, meet what their patients need, and get possible surgical results preoperatively.

CONCLUSIONS

In this evaluation system, three main techniques of labiaplasty are recorded. Women can easily be informed in preoperative counseling about the data supporting the efficacy of these procedures. And for the operator, this program could also suggest which method is the best once confront a dilemma.
