UNSTRUCTURED
Objective To determine whether a pair of computerized see-through glasses displaying optokinetic stimulation (OKS) can reduce the symptoms of hemispatial neglect.
Methods Eighteen patients with right hemispheric strokes were enrolled in a randomized, blind, placebo-controlled trial. Patients with hemispatial neglect were tested before and during visual stimulation while wearing the neglect rehabilitation glasses. Primary outcome was percent change in the behavioral inattention score.
Results Patients who received OKS averaged a significant 32.9% +/- 6.49%) improvement of their neglect score compared to control subjects who had a 7.29% +/- 10.5% worsening.
Discussion Our neglect rehabilitation glasses ameliorates the symptoms of hemispatial neglect in stroke patients.
