UNSTRUCTURED
Acne Keloidalis Nuchae (AKN) is a chronic inflammatory condition which in vast majority of cases is treated medically. In rare cases where the condition is severe and refractory to treatment, surgical intervention is necessary. There is still no consensus on the best surgical method of treatment, but the wish for a short postoperative healing period and a cosmetically acceptable result is the same for all cases.
In this case we present a patient with severe refractory AKN, treated with excision and direct Split-Thickness Skin Grafting (STSG) in combination with Negative Pressure Wound Therapy (NPWT). This, with a both shorter healing period than previously described and with a satisfactory cosmetic result.
