Abstract

BACKGROUND

Postoperative fatigue syndrome (POFS) occurs in almost every patient who has undergone major surgery. With the ever-increasing attention on rehabilitation treatment, POFS has received unprecedented attention.

OBJECTIVE

Based on modern data analysis, this study aims to intelligently optimize acupuncture treatment and test its efficacy in patients with breast cancer and POFS.

METHODS

In this study, the acupuncture and moxibustion in traditional Chinese medicine were combined to optimize the formation of warm acupuncture therapy, and then, the research on warm acupuncture was optimized using modern data analysis methods. The statistics of the personal information and operation of 60 patients with breast cancer were carried out. The statistical results were analyzed by rank-sum test and independent sample t tests. The visual analog scale (VAS), Brief Profile of Mood State (BPOMS), and Identity-Consequence Fatigue Scale (ICFS) were used to analyze the fatigue degree, mental state, and fatigue state of the patients.

RESULTS

There was no significant difference in age (U=473.34, <i>P</i>=.58) and education level (U=479.20, <i>P</i>=.61) between the experimental group and the control group (<i>P</i>=.06), which were comparable. Compared with the control group, the VAS values of the experimental group on the third day (<i>P</i>=.04), seventh day (<i>P</i>=.04), and 14th day (<i>P</i>=.03) of postoperative treatment were significantly reduced, with significant differences (<i>P</i>=.03). In the experimental group, the BPOMS values on the third day (<i>P</i>=.04), seventh day (<i>P</i>=.04), and 14th day (<i>P</i>=.03) of postoperative treatment were significantly reduced, with significant differences (<i>P</i>=.04). The ICFS values of the experimental group on the third day (<i>P</i>=.046), seventh day (<i>P</i>=.04), and 14th day (<i>P</i>=.03) of postoperative treatment were significantly reduced, with significant differences (<i>P</i>=.04). The variance of transferrin levels was uniform on the seventh day after operation (<i>F</i>=0.679, <i>P</i>=.43), with a significant difference (<i>t</i>=–2.985, <i>P</i>=.008).

CONCLUSIONS

Warm acupuncture therapy could effectively improve the POFS of patients with breast cancer and is a safe and effective treatment.
