Abstract
The article deals with the contribution of almost forgotten Czech economist František Čuhel, whose fundamental work “Zur Lehre von den Bedürfnissen” appeared exactly 100 years ago. The article contains biographical facts, summarizes Čuhel’s major contribution consisting of the formulation of the ordinal utility theory, and explains his influence on economic thought.
