The Compton camera technique is a well-known method of visualizing the distribution of radiation sources that emit gamma rays with energies of approximately 1 MeV. One major disadvantage of this technique is that the reconstructed image is degraded owing to the appearance of artificial uneven structures caused by accumulating rings estimated from each event. In this study, we demonstrated that we can easily achieve shift-invariant gamma-ray imaging with a drastic reduction in these artificial uneven structures by rotating the Compton camera during the measurement while also applying image sharpening techniques based on the filtered back-projection algorithm used in computed tomography.
