Abstract
Abstract
Dielectric metamaterials are examined as candidates for magnetic absorption materials above tens of GHz, as alternatives to conventionally used ferromagnetic materials. We studied the permeability characteristics of these dielectric metamaterials near the resonance frequency and compared them with those of ferromagnetic materials. The main result is that the magnetic loss of these metamaterials is expected to exceed those of ferromagnetic materials over the tens of GHz range because of their superior dependence of permeability on increasing frequency. This magnetic resonance was also confirmed experimentally using BaTiO3 and Bi0.5K0.5TiO3 near 10 GHz.
