Abstract
Abstract
Radiation-induced luminescence, and scintillation in particular, in glass is difficult to control, and its efficiency is hard to improve owing to the structural diversity of glasses. However, the structural and chemical compositional diversity and excellent formability of glass have remained attractive for phosphor applications. This paper summarizes recent studies on glass-based scintillators. Based on the general relationships between scintillation and photoluminescence quantum efficiency in materials, the prospects of glass-based scintillators are discussed.
