Abstract
A comparison of the corrosion and hydrogen uptake resistance of pickled, anodized, and thermally oxidized titanium is made. In general, thermal oxidation appears to offer better protection than the anodized or the pickled condition, thus, offering improved performance in heat exchanger applications as compared to the anodized coating that is traditionally specified for marginal service.
