Abstract
AbstractThe thickness of the wall of the puparium of the apple maggot, Rhagoletis pomonella (Walsh), increased as the puparium aged. The force required to pierce the wall of the puparium also increased with age, and this relationship was best described by a cubic polynomial. Increasing thickness and hardness of the wall of the puparium will likely influence the efficacy of the parasite Phygadeuon wiesmanni Sachtl.
